In the face of growing water scarcity across Latin America, industrial facilities are urgently seeking ways to optimize their water footprint. At the Emsula facility in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, UAT CCRO Water Recovery has proven to be the definitive solution to this challenge, breaking past the limitations of traditional technologies.
Following our landmark successes in Toluca and Apodaca, Mexico, UAT Team has once again demonstrated that industrial plants no longer need to settle for the standard 75% recovery ceiling.

The Challenge for Primary Systems
Many beverage and industrial plants rely on well water («pozo») to feed their primary Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems. However, conventional RO typically caps at 75% recovery to prevent membrane scaling. This means 25% of the extracted well water is wasted. The Sula II project required a system that could maximize yield from their well water source without compromising membrane lifespan.
The UAT CCRO Water Recovery Solution
UAT Team engineered and commissioned the Sula II system, a primary treatment unit powered by DuPont™ DesaliTec™ Closed Circuit Reverse Osmosis (CCRO) technology.
By operating in a dynamic, closed-loop cycle, the system automatically adapts to feed-water variations, allowing it to safely push recovery limits far beyond conventional capabilities.
Sula II Performance Data
The results at San Pedro Sula join our growing portfolio of high-efficiency installations:
-
Plant: Sula II
-
System Capacity: 220 Gpm
-
Feed Source: Well Water (Pozo)
-
Recovery Rate: 90%
How Other Companies Can Benefit from UAT CCRO Water Recovery
The success in San Pedro Sula, mirroring our results in Toluca, proves that UAT CCRO Water Recovery is a scalable, reliable solution for any facility. By upgrading to CCRO, companies can:
-
Reduce OPEX: Extract up to 15% more product water from the same well, drastically lowering raw water costs.
-
Achieve ESG Goals: Significantly reduce the environmental footprint by drawing less groundwater.
-
Future-Proof Operations: Increase production capacity even in regions with strict water extraction limits.
